“Good writing and artwork is generally accomplished through absolute honesty, and I think Pat displays that perfectly here. He reveals to the reader who he is and through his thoughts and experiences you learn a little bit more about yourself. His poetry is concise and readable. He doesn't say anymore than he has to while also confessing very deep private thoughts and fears. The subject matter and writing style make me think Pat is a combination of Bukowski and Emerson. Like a transcendental beat writer. He tries to understand his own reasoning but is not coy or prudish in doing so. A good read for anyone who loves nature, drinking and everything in between.”

Become a Featured Peace Pirate
We all find our own ways to heal, but that doesn’t mean we have to heal alone. Each month I’ll be preparing daily prompts to ignite the creative spirit. Send me your poems, paintings, stories, songs, or even dances that were inspired by the prompts! Each month I’ll select one to feature on the blog page. This is a great way to expand our crew and heal together through creative channels.

My Creative Journey

My twin brother and I spent countless hours in childhood creating elaborate adventures for our action figures. We knew the weight of heartbreak before we experienced it because the characters we created went through it.

Medicine in Nature
I watched the osprey carry their prey out of the ocean, over the houses, and away to their nests. I listened to the waves rehearse their morning hymn as the sun teased the still blue sky with a touch of pink from the horizon. I felt the warmth of a new day enter. Each crashing wave was a collaboration with my beating heart. Each gust of wind carried my breath into oneness with the earth.
