Peace Pirate Poetry Feature #11

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here! I’ve been busy practicing Reiki, writing more of the fantasy series with my brother, and simply enjoying everyday life. I’m grateful to be in a space where I get to explore so much of myself. I’m also grateful to be in a space where I get to discover others who are doing the same, and that’s why I wanted to circle back to this blog and share a poet with all of you!

This poem caught my eye because, one, I was hoping someone would submit a piece using the “stray lion” prompt, and two, it was not the direction I expected with that prompt. It blew me away. The repetition is effective, the deeper concepts reflect the circle of life, and it reminds us that even the mightiest need support from another.

What got you interested in writing poetry?

I began with fictional prose and wanted to expand my horizons; but I wasn't sure how. Then, at the risk of sounding like a bad YouTube ad, I found out about a site called DeviantArt where poets were doing great things with Japanese forms, so I signed up and tried them out, too. Now I just write in my own weird free-verse style, haha.

Are you currently working on anything you’d like to tell us about?

I prefer to let my poetry speak for itself; I'm a bit shy and get easily worried about saying something dumb, so it's better this way, really.

How did you come up with this beautiful poem?

I read one of your January prompts for this year "Stray Lion" and found it so unique and mysterious—I just had to explore it further. Also, the narrative in my poem is fictional, but it's based on feelings and thoughts I've had in the past.
