Peace Pirate Poetry Feature #3

I had the pleasure of connecting with Nolan in November. I’m drawn to the depth of his poetry and the flow he strives to live with. He doesn’t need many words in order to make you wonder. When I read his submission I found myself sitting with the poetry and exploring the feelings that began to arise after reading it.

He successfully draws upon light & darkness to release an aura of balance that many readers seek in everyday life.

Nolan is a lifelong artist with an appreciation for simplicity. The way he experiences the world around him seems to equip him with an impressive ability to connect the smallest things to massive emotional breakthroughs.

Check out what he had to say:

What got you interested in writing poetry?

I've been an artist all of my life and see so much beauty in the simplest things in life. I think I have always been able to see the poetry that is written in a breeze or the love affair between the waves and the sandy shore. Poetry .. art .. it has always just been within me, and life has brought it out of me.

Are you currently working on anything you’d like to tell us about?

I feel that words are like a fountain in my mind that constantly seem to trickle down through my fingers onto the paper ... so I guess there's always some new poetry just around the corner 😁

How did you come up with this beautiful poem?

Inspiration for this piece came from a memory of my ex girlfriend some years back. The poem started with a single memory which was quite a painful one, but as I wrote it down, a painful memory turned into this beautiful snowball of memories reminding me that life is a beautiful dance between the light & the darkness.
