Peace Pirate Poetry Feature #4
This month I’m featuring a piece by @bleedingink_mistress that I think you’ll all enjoy. I had a chance to connect with the mistress myself and found her story to be one that many of us can relate to. The year 2020 forced her inward, as it did to so many of us, and her heart found a home alongside her pen.
I enjoy her poetry because it has an element of fantasy that attracts my mystical self, but also because of the vulnerability she allows her work to be accompanied by. I believe everyone can find meaning in her words and that’s a powerful tool for any writer to have in their back pocket. Be sure to check out her page on Instagram as well as the community of poets she’s put together (mentioned below), but also take some time to read her story below and discover how she came up with this poem.
What got you interested in writing poetry?
I started writing poetry when I was very young, at the age of 13 or so, I studied English Literature and fell in love with rhymes and Shakespeare’s English. However, It’s been a while Since I have been consistent with writing.
2020 had me at a point where I was overwhelmed with too many emotions. Hence, I started writing again in September 2020, and it has been an amazing journey. I met very kindhearted writers that were very supportive and we synced so well.
I choose to stay anonymous though, so that I can express freely without having to think twice as I mostly write what I feel and what I am passionate about.
During this journey I met another writer that decided to do a collaboration with me and we started our own community for writers and poets which is called @poets_island on Instagram, we support each other to grow together. These poets and writers are referred to as “Islanders”, and are very close to my heart, so thought I of highlighting that.
Are you currently working on anything you’d like to tell us about?
I am working on myself and also working on coming up with something interesting soon. Stay tuned!
How did you come up with this beautiful poem?
I came up with this poem on a night that I was sleepless, and it was 3 am once again, bleeding my heart out profusely.
Won’t forget to thank you, for I stumbled upon one of your prompts that helped me write this piece together.
Thank you for featuring my poem.
